•What is Turing test in Artificial intelligence? This refers to a test used to measure the ability of machines to engage in intelligent behaviour similar to that of human beings. As part of the test, a human interrogator is made to ask a variety of questions to a human being and a machine, both hidden from the sight of the interrogator. The interrogator is then asked to guess the machine from the human being based purely on the written responses to his or her questions. The Turing test was proposed by English computer scientist Alan Turing in his famous 1950 paper “Computing Machinery and Intelligence”.

On December 14 NASA announced that it has discovered two new exoplanets with a little help from Google. The researchers used the artificial intelligence from Google to analyse the data from Kepler- a telescope placed in space. Where were the new exoplanets found? Kepler-80g was found in the planetary system around Kepler 80. Kepler 80 is a star about 1364 light years away which already has five exoplanets around it-80b, 80c, 80d, 80e and 80f. 80g will now be the outermost planet in the system. The other exoplanet Kepler-90i was found orbiting Kepler 90. Government Taking Steps to Improve Mobile Internet Connectivity: Sinha To improve Internet connectivity through mobile phones especially in the rural areas, there is a plan to equip towers with solar power kits so that they keep functioning even when there is no power supply, the government said on Friday. During the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha also said the  Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL)  which was earlier in losses has posted an operating profit and more towers will be set up to improve the service and connectivity of the public sector enterprise. "There are around 4.61 lakh mobile towers in the country out of which BSNL has 66,771 mobile towers. Government has approved hiving off mobile tower assets of BSNL into a separate company fully owned by the BSNL. New Smartphone App to Help Locate People in Areas Without Network Scientists have  developed a smartphone app  that can be used in emergency situations arising due to earthquakes, floods or forest fires, where mobile phone infrastructure is often rendered useless. The system created by researchers at the  Universidad de Alicante (UA) in Spain makes it possible to locate people who have suffered an accident in remote locations without a phone signal and where a speedy rescue is essential to save lives. "We have designed an application (app) that can be incorporated to any smartphone and that, without a signal, emits a Wifi signal which in turn acts as a distress beacon over a distance of several kilometres," said Jose Angel Berna, creator of the technology and professor at UA. WhatsApp Private Reply Feature for Groups Enabled by Mistake, Expected Soon: WhatsApp  mistakenly rolled out the 'Reply Privately' feature in a beta update for  Windows Phone  that will allow users to privately send a message to a participant in a group without anyone else knowing about it. The hotly-anticipated WhatsApp feature is under development and could be rolled out with other features as well. The Private Reply feature appeared and was subsequently dropped from the beta version of WhatsApp, watcher of the popular chat app @WABetaInfo said, confirming that the developers wrongly enabled the feature. "In the new WhatsApp beta for Windows Phone 2.17.344 the private reply feature is disabled.
